Reliable, Trustworthy, Dependable.

We make customs easy.

Why Biosecurity Is a Separate Step

Customs looks at duty, GST and border controls. Biosecurity is assessed by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, which sets import conditions to keep pests and diseases out of Australia. A shipment can satisfy one and still be held by the other.

It is not only food and plant products. Timber crates, pallets, used machinery, vehicles and goods carrying soil or seeds can all attract attention. Conditions are published in the department's BICON system and vary by commodity and origin.

How We Help You Prepare

We look at what the goods are, how they are packed and where they come from, then check the published conditions with you. If a permit, treatment certificate or declaration is likely to be needed, we flag it before the goods ship.

The department decides whether goods need inspection, treatment, export or destruction, and we cannot guarantee an outcome. When an inspection or treatment is directed, we help you understand the requirement and coordinate the next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my goods be inspected?

We cannot say in advance. Some goods are inspected as a condition of import, and others are selected based on risk. Complete, accurate documents help the assessment but do not rule out an inspection.

What if the department orders treatment?

Treatment, such as fumigation, is carried out by an approved provider and adds cost and time. We explain what has been directed and help coordinate it, but the requirement itself cannot be negotiated through us.

Do I need a permit before ordering?

For some goods, yes, and permits can take time to obtain. Check before you commit to a supplier. Send us a product description and we can help you work through the published conditions.

Not Sure What Biosecurity Applies?

Send a description of the goods and packaging. We will help you check the conditions before the shipment leaves.
